Graeme Finch - Engineering Manager NZCE, B.Sc, M.Sc
Graeme has previously managed numerous research and development contracts in noise and vibration control, composite materials and dynamic loading of vessels. Graeme manages our engineering process implementation, engineering quality assurance and workflows. A past president of RINA, he currently represents New Zealand on several ISO technical committees.

Tony Gray - 3D FEA Specialist B.E. (Hons), M.E.
Tony is an accomplished mechanical engineer with extensive experience using FEA modelling to solve dynamic Noise and Vibration Harshness (NVH) issues at Ford’s European R&D centre among others. He is the Australasian Managing Director of Altair Engineering (software) and provides advanced 3D modelling and FEA analysis on contract.

Kevin Ralphs - Marine Engineer REA, NZCE, MEC 3
Kevin brings over 30 years specialist experience in marine mechanical systems, having designed systems for numerous large vessels. He is fully conversant with Lloyds Register and MCA requirements. Kevin ensures excellence across all aspects of mechanical design.

Andrew Charnley - Marine Vibration Specialist Former-RNZN
Andrew is a Royal New Zealand Navy trained specialist in vibration analysis, propulsion systems and underwater acoustics. He has extensive experience in on-board vibration analysis and ultrasonics. Andrew is our specialist in propulsion systems, sea-trial vibration measurements and fault diagnosis on operational vessels.

Martin Keane - R&D, FEA / SEA analysis B.E. (Hons), PhD
Martin is a PhD graduate from the Acoustics Research Centre at Auckland University and has a range of practical and analytical skills, including sound and vibration modelling. Martin performs product testing as well as systems development and sea trial measurements.

Simon Kean - Airborne Acoustics, R&D B.E. (Hons), PhD
With a PhD in Acoustics, Simon’s strength is in airborne acoustics, combining experience in NVH, R&D, as well as managing industrial and environmental noise projects. Simon specialises in using vibro-acoustic software, and performs engineering and product development.

Stella Williams - I.T., Quality Assurance, Administration Manager
Stella has a broad knowledge of I.T., quality control and administration processes from her experience as a Service Manager at New Zealand’s largest health provider. An Auckland University graduate, Stella implements our processes and quality control for all areas, from administration to manufacturing.

We contract a number of other engineers for specific applications. Each works according to Blue Ocean Acoustics documented and quality controlled processes. We also contract autocad/3D design operators to allow fast and efficient turnaround.

Superyachts offer outstanding style and luxury within a restricted space. And while that’s a huge benefit to owners, it’s also a significant challenge to engineers.

Blue Ocean Acoustics utilises the latest technology, engineering and construction methods, to provide comfort for owners, guests and crew by ensuring low noise and vibration levels. This is a key design and contract consideration when building or buying a new vessel.
